During the long evolution of petroleum formation,some aromatic components such as benzene, phenol and anthracene would migrate from the oil and gas reservoirs to the surface of the earth and form the so-called geochemical anomalies. Both chromatography and chemical element analysis are commonly applied to investigation of these anomalies.
