Octapeptide cholecystokinin (CCK-8), one of the highest content neuropeptides in the brain, seems to play a complicated regulatory role in many physiological functions, among which is the modulation of pain perception. CCK-8 administered centrally or peripherally, has been reported to antagonize the analgesic effect of morphine.
