摘要 Of all the lanthanides. only cerium forms stable tetravalent compounds.The tetra(cyclopentadienyl) cerium has been reported to be even stable enough to with-stand dilute acid solution.The IR spectrum of the compound contains a band at 2980 cm-1, in addition to the usual C-H stretching vibrations of cyclopentadienyl groups, which is considered as an evidence that Cp ring may be more covalently bonded to the Ce atom.
