Oligoribonucleotides have been prepared by using chemical synthesis and enzymatic synthesis or by means of partially hydrolyzing polyribonucleotides with alkaline and specific RNase. These methods have their own advantages and drawbacks. Although by the chemical method one can synthesize any oligoribonucleotides with the defined sequence, it takes a long period to prepare the chemically protected ribonucleosides and ribonucleotides.
