摘要 In inorganic glasses there exists a seriously inhomogeneous broadening in optical and EPR spectra of paramagnetic ions due to the intrinsic diagonal and off-diagonal distortion of the sites. In other words, it might be thought as an extension of site-symmetry for paramagnetic ions on a certain point group of symmetry, which gives rise to the disorder in the energy eigenvalues and coupling strength from site to site.
