Survey on the Status Quo of AIDS Prevention and Anti-discrimination among Medical Students

目的了解医学生的艾滋病预防与反歧视现状,为在医学生中有针对性地开展防艾宣传教育提供依据。方法自行设计问卷,对南京市某高校医学院各年级学生进行调查,共发放问卷172份,回收问卷167份,回收率为97.09%。结果 92.2%的医学生认为其较之其他专业的学生有更多的防艾责任。医学生对艾滋病相关知识的掌握程度较高,大部分医学生对待HIV感染者/AIDS患者的态度是平等关怀的,但仍有部分学生认为医生有更高的感染艾滋病风险,并倾向于不直接接诊艾滋病病人。结论应更多地发挥医学生的专业特性,加强医学生职业暴露防护教育,减少其对艾滋病的恐慌,培养良好的专业素养,以平等的心态对待HIV感染者/AIDS患者。

Objective To understand the status quo of AIDS prevention and anti-discrimination among medical students, and to provide the basis for carrying out the AIDS prevention education pertinently. Methods Students from medical college of an university in Nanjing were surveyed with self-designed questionnaire. Totally 172 questionnaires were distributed with 167 questionnaires recovered. The recovery rate was 97.09%. Results The proportion of medical students who thought they had more AIDS prevention responsibilities than students from other majors was 92.2%. Medical students had higher awareness of AIDS-related knowledge than others. Most medical students presented equal and care attitude to HIV/AIDS cases. However, some students believed that clinicians had higher risks of infecting HIV than other population hence tended to refuse direct diagnosis and treatment for AIDS patients. Conclusion The professional characteristics of medical students should be noticed and applied in the health education program. Occupational exposure protection education should be reinforced to medical students to alleviate their fear to HIV/AIDS and form better occupational quality, treating HIV/AIDS cases with an equal attitude.
