本文把目前所能看到的若干春秋战国时代秦瓦的考古资料,与已知的建筑学资料和原理相比较,初步做一重新整理,看看现有的解释是不是能站得住。利用中国文明以外——早期希腊和罗马时代的若干屋瓦资料,尝试做一些新角度的观察.看看什么新问题可以发现出来。

This paper discusses type,utilization and production of Chinese architectural terracottas in the Warring States period with particular reference to roof tiles of the Qin(677B.C.—A.D.215).The principle method of the study is comparison within the materials and cross-referencing relevant materials.Archaic architectural terracottas in the Mediterranean are observed as similar parallels.The great interest of this study is not about who invented what or whether independently.The intention is to raise questions emerged from observations solely on architectural appraisal and discuss problems.This study is presented as a first step in the process of understanding Chinese roof tiles in the early historical period in a wider picture.
