Jingde Zhen (Chingte Chen), Jiangxi Province is a famous historical town for its ceramics for more than thousand years, i.e., from Tang down to early Qing dynasties. There remains a large area of earth layer of ceramic wastes and kiln sites which should be preserved. In the meantime, many buildings of Ming dynasty including dwelliugs, ancestral shrines, shops, pailous, alley-gates, etc. have recently been discovered in the town. Some of them bear inscriptions which show that they are four or five hundred years old. These historical buildings should be repaired and preserved as they are, together with those kiln sites, to form tourist attractions. Among these buildings, Sanlu Miao could be a place where domestic activities of Ming and Qing dynasties would be reproduced for exhibition. The author suggests that the preservation of historical sites and buildings should be incorporated with tourist services and cultural activities so that more funds can be raised instead of soly relying on the state for recostruction expenses.
