On the Fateful Structrue in A Dream of Red Mansions

分析了作品宿命结构的表现及其功能。认为这一宿命结构由两大要素构成,一个是顽石经历,体现佛教色即是空的观念,主要起引导作品的情节和中心人物宝玉归宿的作用;另一个是神秘谶言,它时时进入作品的写实层面,不仅决定着贾府的青年女子,特别是贾府中那些美丽的少女少妇们无一例外走向悲惨的结局,而且也决定着贾府两大家庭的没落命运。

The thesis discusses the manifestation and function of the fateful structure in A Dream of Red Mansions and draws a conclusion that this fateful structure consists of two essential elements.One is the experience of the magic stone which symbolizes a Buddhism Conception:'Material appearance of things is vain ',and leads the plot developing and the prophecy which keeps on resurfacing onto the realistic description ,and determines not only the bitter fates of the women in the mansions,especially those beautiful maidens and young ladies,but also the collapse of the two families in the mansions.
