司马相如不仅是汉代伟大的赋作家 ,而且在赋体文学创作理论方面 ,也有独到的见解。在中国文学批评史上 ,他第一个强调文学语言的音乐美和色彩美 ,第一个从艺术角度阐述文学想象问题 ,第一个以自身的创作行动展示了文学创作的特殊的精神状态 ,第一个强调艺术天才在文学创作中的重要作用。他的这些观点 ,不仅远远超过汉人的功利主义文学观 ,而且对整个中国古代文论都产生过十分深入的影响。
Sima Xiangru is a great writer of verse prose as well as a remarkable theorist in that field.He is the first to stress the musicality and visual beauty of verse prose,to display the mentality of literary creation throuhg his own acts,and to show the role of artistic talent in literature.His ideas were nobler than the then Han people's utilitarian ideas for literary creation only,and exercised great impact on ancient literary theories.
