On Aogust 29, the EU committee declared its acceptance of the price and quantity promises from China Mechanical and ElectricalImport & Export Chamber of Commerce and seven TV manufacturers, namely Xiahua, Haire, Kangjia, Changhong, Chuangwel andTCL, and agreed to admit China's colour TVs to the EU market. The 400,000-TV set-quota may not have great significance to China'scolour TV manufacturers, but they expect that this quota can serve as a kdy which will eventually open EU market completely. AS LiDongsheng, the chairman of the board of TCL Group, said, 'As EU has opened its door to us, we should try our best to open it widely.'
