摘要
探究华夏文明象征之龙的起源问题,是一个极富挑战性的难题。以往许多研究者,只注意到龙的一些表面特征,得出龙是以蛇为原型的复合物的结论。其实,龙并非一开始就作为复合物被创造出来,它的原型之一是中国南方消失的爬行动物———鳄。
To explore the origin of dragon, the symbol of Cathay civilization, is highly challenging. Many researchers in the past had noticed only the superficial features of dragon so that they concluded that dragon was a composite with snake as the archetype. In fact, dragon was not created as a composite at the very beginning. One of its archetypes was crocodile, a reptile extinct in South China.
