The situation and features of the development of two-piece steel cans and D&I coils in Europe are briefly introduced in the paper, with an emphasis on the progress in the light-weighting of two-piece cans. It's concluded that the reason for two-piece cans' success in Europe is that steel suppliers keep research on the improvement of D&I coil quality, the customer support technology, and studying the light-weighting technology together with can makers to reduce the can-making cost. Meanwhile, the domestic market of two-piece cans is also contrastively introduced. It's pointed out that domestic steel suppliers should keep research on the improvement of D&I coil quality and studying the customer support technology together with can makers and beverage manufacturers just as European steel suppliers do if they want to succeed in enlarging the share of two-piece steel cans in Chinese market.
