In the Qing Dynasty, the innovation painters, represented by Siseng , Yang zhou Baguai and Jinling Bajia, dared t o break tradition sand make innovations. Usin g a simple and abstract form, they put thei r indignant and melancholy feelings into t heir paintings, Their performance suits the development of the times and push estradi tional Chinese paintings forward. The author a nalyses this to this topic from many aspects his tori c background, philosophical foundation, a esthetic mentality and soon. This article will try to describe the relationship between the melancholy subject and abstract form of the Qing innovation paintings.
