A letter to Ren An by Sima Qian cle arly suggests his life philosophy. In it, he expressed his idea of going after fame, emphasized his lifeanddea th alternative of 'weightier than Mount Tai', and described his history writing the ory 'with strong determination'. It embodies Sima Qian 's solemn and stirring attitude to life and thus becomes a lasting life model in China.
