The thesis focuses on the story of the water margin of the age of singing and story -telling arts before the actual Water Margin had been written.It offers a general analysis of various storie s from different angles beginning with Incidents of the Age of Xuanhe,including the investigation of the changing of places where Liang-shan heroes became outlaws,the alte ration of chieftains from Chao Gai to Song Jiang.Consulting references as Romance of Yang -family Generals,we can come to the conclusion that there is a bold insin uation in the novel through the study of the mystery of Ta izu of Song Dynasty passing down the throne to Taizong of Song Dynasty and Goddess Jiutian Xuannu bestowing a s croll from heaven,Chao Gai's long -cherished wish and Song Jiang's re-deeming a vow at Taishan Mountain,th e long -cherished wish of Taizong of Song Dynasty and Shenzong's fenshan at Taishan Mountain.
