凹凸棒石粘土是一种自然界比较稀少、性能独特、用途广泛的非金属矿产 ,在我国主要分布在江苏西部的盱眙—六合和安徽的明光地区。通过叙述国内外凹凸棒石粘土开发利用的现状 ,回顾我国凹凸棒石粘土开发的过程 ,重点介绍了盱眙从保护资源和环境着手 ,整顿、规范矿业市场 ,从而建设苏北凹凸棒石粘土支柱性企业的做法 ,对如何从开发思路、科技引导和创新、借鉴经验、人才使用和成果转化等方面提高认识 ,促进我国凹凸棒石粘土工业向深度和广度发展 ,进行了比较深入的思考。
