The Term of “Xiao Zi”(Petty Bourg)

“小资”是近年来使用频率极高的一个时尚词语。我们认为 ,它是“小资产阶级”一词的缩略形式 ,并且缩略以后 ,在词汇意义、感情色彩、语法功能方面都发生了很大的变化。其词汇意义和感情色彩的变化根源于改革开放后我国社会生活的变化 ,而其语法功能的扩大 ,则有其语义基础及特定的文化背景 ,并且也是由于其进入了“很X”

xiao zi” is a fashionable term used very frequently during recent years. This paper argues that it is the abbreviation of “xiaozicanjieji”(petty bourgeois), and the abbreviating makes it change greatly in the meaning, emotional colouring and grammar function. The reason for the changes of its meaning and emotional colouring lies in the changes of our social life. Its specific culture background, its semantic foundation and its entrance into the “Hen very X” structure has caused the extension of its grammar function.
