The Translation of “manzou”and science students' awareness of vocabulary's cultural meanings

词汇的文化意义往往蕴涵在语言的深层,也是广大理科学生英语学习中的瓶颈。本文结合风俗习惯分析了英汉词汇的不对等现象,从历史发展、社会变革和价值观差异方面探讨了词汇文化意义的渊源,同时还举例阐述了如何跨越成语、俗语、谚语和一些礼仪性的客套话语给英语学习者造成的文化障碍。

The awareness of vocabulary抯 cultural meanings is especially hard for science students to acquire. By analyzing different customs, historical developments and social changes, the present paper probes into the origins of the vocabulary抯 cultural meanings and tries to help the students to surmount the cultural obstacles caused by idioms, proverbs, sayings and courteous expressions.
