Many writers treated the individual liberationin with lopsided views which restricted their writing, while Lu Xun related the individual liberation with social liberation all along the way. Other writers became asceticalor indulged in carnal pleasures in their novels. Lu xun criticized both of them and insisted that spirit and carnal desire are both important in love and marriage.
