摘要
本文根据向列相液晶在外控电场作用下的电光效应,分析了在相干光纤通信系统中用作偏振控制的机理。介绍了利用液晶延迟单元级联构成偏控器的方案,并报导了实验结果。理论分析与实践表明液晶偏控器是一种新颖的有实用价值的电光器件。
In this paper polarization controlling mechanism used in coherent optical fiber communi- cation is analyzed on the basis of the electrooptic effect of nematic liquid crystal under the ac- tion of applied electrical field. A scheme of polarization control using liquid crystal cells con- nected in series has been introduced and some of experimental results are also reported. It is shown in theoretical analysis and practice that the liquid crystal controller is a kind of novel, yet quite valuable electrooptic device.
