The calculating methods and expressions on length of incision for two kinds of bucket type stacker reclaimer are given through the analysis on movement laws of gantry type stacker reclaimer and boom type stacker reclaimer,and the conclusion that they have distinct difference is drawn.The basis is established in calculating the digging resistance of two kinds of bucket type stacker reclaimer which break the conventional calculating method according to the movement law of gantry type stacker reclaimer.The result is of help in determining the proportion of width and depth of bucket,and is also of help in choosing the proportion of the traveling distance of gantry and the moving velocity of bucket.
