人类认识水平的提高 ,实践经验的积累 ,离不开联想。隐喻也正是在联想的基础上得以创造并被接受的。以相似性为基础的联想是英语隐喻的重要特征之一 ,而隐喻中的联想受到特定语言及文化语境的制约 ,孤立的隐喻是不存在的。本文从语言语境和文化语境的角度出发 ,讨论了英语隐喻的联想特征。

The improvement of the level of human being's cognition and the accumulation of practical experiences are connected closely wit h association. It is on the basis of association that metaphor wa s created and accep ted.In terms of linguistic and cultural context,this paper discusses the metaph or's association-one of the most important characteristics of metaphor, since it does not exist alone being devoid of them.
