Differences in “Plant Culture” betweenthe Han People and the English-speaking People

汉民族植物文化与英语民族植物文化存在着明显的差异。人们对于各种植物的看法态度以及各种植物所具有的比喻意义和象征意义 ,构成了该民族植物文化的基本内容。不同的植物文化差异反映了汉民族与英语民族在自然环境、文化背景、思维特点及审美观点等方面的不同 ,了解这些有利于跨文化交流。

The present paper discusses the differences in “ plant culture” between The Han people and the English-speaking people. It holds that the ideas and attitudes that people feel towards plants as well as their m etaphorical and symbolic significance have contributed to the fundamental cores of their respective plant culture. These differences reflect the diversity in th e natural environment,cultural background, and way of thinking and aesthetics between the Han people and the English-speaking people. To be aware of such dif ferences will be helpful for cross-cultural communications between the two peopl es.
