Firm Boundary:A Political-economic Analysis——Determinants and Manifestations of Firm Size

经典的经济学理论主要以“收益”和“成本”(尽管存在不同含义 )来分析企业边界 ,而“收益”、“成本”只是一种经济指标、一种衡量工具 ,把这些工具作为衡量准绳并使之具有评判价值 ,其间必定存在一种能动的主体力量 ,这种力量其实就表现为知识以及由此所产生的权力。因而 ,从企业内部的资源配置能力和外部因素对企业的作用力等方面进行综合考察 ,可以发现知识和权力也是影响企业边界的本质因素。

Classic economics analyses firm boundaries mainly in terms of 'revenue' and ' cost', albeit with different senses, but 'revenue' and 'cost' are only econ omic indicators and measures. As we regard these measures as criteria with judgm ent value, there must be an active power, which is manifested in knowledge and r esultant power. It can be found, therefore, that studied comprehensively from th e perspectives of the allocation of a firm's internal resources and the impact of external factors on firms, knowledge and power are also essential determinant s of firm boundaries.
