The research progress on the existence and connectedness of compact attractors of abstract semigroups is reviewed.In particular,the various conditions of the existence of compact attractors are compared,and a recent result on the connectedness of compact global attractors is presented,which is a satisfactory improvement to a corresponding result of Ladyzenskaya.
