Deeply influenced by the Western culture, especially by the 'Cambridge'culture,Mr.Xu Zhimo was undoubtedly a romantic poet. His life-long beliefs were 'love, liberty and beauty'.In order to seek the ideal and the happy life,he would like to 'become sand, light or wind'.In many of his poems he borrowed the image of 'snowflake' and the like-it was beautiful but a short life, which seemed to suggest that his pursuit was destined to fail from the very beginning. His emotion and romance was richly colored with fatalism.
