The breeding procedure of high yield and medium-strong gluten winter wheat variety Ji 5385 and its main characteristics are introduced in this paper. It is pointed out that the key technique of successful breeding of Ji 5385 are: making crosses by using advanced lines with objective characters as main parents; and combining the phenotypic selection with grain quality examination in progeny selection.
