中日邦交正常化20年来,友好合作一直是两国关系的主流,并且达到了从未有过的广度、深度和高度.发展中日睦邻友好合作关系,不仅符合两国根本利益,而且对于亚太以至世界的和平与发展具有重大意义.在新的国际形势下,面向21世纪,两国不仅需要进一步密切双边关系,而且需要在地区和全球性问题上共同做出积极贡献.

In the past two decades since the normalization of Sino-Japanese relations, friendship and cooperation have all along been the mainstream in the relations between the two countries. Such relationship,built on unprecedented progress in all fields and on a more profound basis, has reached a new high.To enhance relations of friendship and cooperation between China and Japan is not only in keeping with the fundamental interests of the two countries, but also of great significance for peace and development in the Asia-Pacific region and the world as a whole. Looking ahead to the 21st century under new international circumstances, the two countries should make joint efforts for the solution of regional and global issues while forging closer bilateral ties.
