西北联大与西北开发——以学科为中心的考察

Northwest United University and the Northwest Development——A Subject-centered Study

20世纪30年代以来,应西北开发战略之需,发展西北高等教育特别是在西北发展理、工、农、医、师范等高等学科的呼声日益高涨,而国立北平大学、北平师范大学、北洋工学院等之所以被内迁西北组成西北联大并分设为国立西北五校,其重要内在根据之一是它们的学科优势更加符合西北的开发与建设,是国民政府贯彻西北开发战略的深谋远虑的重大举措。内迁西北后,西北联大对开发西北产生高度自觉,其学科发生了以西北问题为研究对象的集体转向,主动承担起西北开发的重大使命。西北联大的西迁与分设及其对开发西北的高度自觉,为今天推动中国高等教育的健康发展和西部大开发提供了重要启示。

Since the 1930 s,calls grew for development in higher education especially discipline construction in the north-west such as science,engineering,agriculture,medicine,pedagogical has been louder and louder due to the strategy ofnorthwest development. Universities such as National Beiping University,Beiping Normal University,Northern EngineeringCollege were moved to the northwest,organized to the Northwest United University and set up for the five national northwestuniversities. One of the important inherent reasons was that their discipline advantage was more in line with the develop-ment and construction of the northwest. The measure was foresighted by the national government to implement the strategyfor northwest development. After being moved the northwest,the Northwest United University was voluntarily committed todeveloping the northwest. Its subjects turned to northwest problems. The Northwest United University took the initiative toundertake the major mission of northwest developing. The westward migration and separation of the Northwest United Uni-versity as well as its consciousness of northwest developing give us valuable revelation to promote a healthy development ofhigher education and construction of the west in contemporary China.
