《珍宝》是毛姆最优秀的短篇小说之一,其中两个性格鲜明的主要人物分别是各自阶级的典型代表,身上带有鲜明的阶层印记。以马克思主义批评为切入点,通过分析他们的性格特征,揭示资产阶级博爱面纱下底层民众被无情商品化的现实,进而探索造成这一现象的原因。

'The Treasure', one of Maugham's best short stories, has two distinctive characters, each of whom is the typical representative of his/her own class. This paper aims at interpreting this story from the approach of Marxist criticism to reveal the fact that the grassroots were ruthlessly commercialized and to probe into the reasons for their behavior by analyzing their disposition.
