On the Differences Between the Western Outlook and Chinese outlook on Nature from the Two “Nature” Poets and Their Works

中国汉晋时代的陶渊明和英国19世纪上半期的浪漫主义诗人威廉·华兹华斯常被相提并论为自然诗人。然而纵观其作品,他们所处的时代背景以及东西方不同的文化背景和宗教观,发现他们两人及他们的诗作也是迥然不同,不可相提并论。本文旨在通过分析他们的作品以及东西方的不同历史,文化背景来探讨他们思想与作品的根本差异。

Tao Yuanmin, a Chinese poet in Dynasty of Han and Jin, and William Wordsworth, a romantic poet in the early 19th century Britain, are generally regarded as two 'Nature Poets.' However, through the analysis of their works, their historical backgrounds, and the different cultural backgrounds and religious views between the West and China, we can find the two peots are quite different. The thesis is meant to analyze their works and the different historical and cultural backgrounds to explore their fundamenatl differences in ideas and works.
