典籍翻译与中国的版本之学

Translation of Chinese Classics and the Study of Chinese Bibliology

本文包含三个方面的内容:一、中国的版本目录学。简要介绍中国传统的目录学、版本学、校勘学的知识。二、典籍翻译中的版本问题。从版本学的角度看翻译,把以往的典籍翻译分为三类:译人型翻译、文人型翻译和学人型翻译,分别进行讨论。三、典籍翻译与版本问题的思考。主要谈从典籍翻译与版本学关系引起对当前如何从事典籍翻译的一些思考。

The paper deals with the relation between the translation of Chinese classics and the study of traditional bibliology. It first gives a brief introduction to the three related traditional disciplines of bibliology, bibliography and textual emendation. Then it discusses the issues of different versions in translation of classics, and divides the translators of the enterprise into three types, literary translators, literature translators and scholastic translators. Finally it talks about the significance of biographical study in today’s translation of classics.
