The Design of a Distributed Distance Teaching Platform

摘要 远程教育正成为高等教育的重要组成部分。合作模式是充分发挥资源优势,提高办学效率及效益的一个很好的模式。分布式远程教学平台软件是合作模式实现的技术基础。针对网络和WEB技术的发展,分布式远程教学平台采用B/S模式。系统将用户分为管理用户和浏览用户两大类,管理用户可以通过浏览器进入系统的管理界面,根据不同的用户权限对远程教学系统进行相应的管理。对于专业课教师或教学领域的专家、教授,即可通过浏览器,随时将各种多媒体教学信息发布到远程教学信息系统中,大大缩短了信息制作和发布的延时。而对于浏览用户只需使用浏览器,可以在任何地方获取需要的教学信息。本文研究了远程教学信息发布与管理,给出了一个完整的基于Web教学的远程教学平台的结构和系统整体设计思想,为资源的有效共享提供技术解决方案。 A well-formulated Web-based teaching platform for distance education is composed of four sub-systems for the following purposes:curriculum development,teaching support,administration and teaching resources manage-ment.The distributed distance teaching platform under discussion has adopted a B/S structure and integrated state-of-the-art developments in networking and WWW technology.In this system,users are divided into administrators and browsers.The former can enter the administration interface of the system.Administrators include specialists and teachers who can feed multimedia materials and information into the system,and hence greatly reduce the production and distribution time required.Browsers can then access this information anywhere and anytime.The rationale is to produce a system in which information is collected in a distributed mode and then ad-ministered through a central unit,in a process that is at once top-down and bottom-up.The system has a multi-level modularized structure,and a relational database management system(RDMS)is employed.Security in the maintenance of information resources and the system itself is ensured through the authentication of user names and passwords.Four sub-systems cover user management,resources management,distance learning administration and e-mail management.The encryption technology of″session cookies″is used in this distance teaching platform.In order to further improve the platform and to achieve″centralized storage and decentralized processing of data″,″middleware″is in-troduced into the platform development process within the Hebei Radio&Television University System,making the transmission of data more secure.The Hebei Radio and Television University System has already integrated the features discussed above into its distance teaching platform.The operation of the system has achieved a high level of stability and the results have been impressive.Specialists from various fields have been employed to update the learning resources so as to provide high-quality services to the students in a timely manner.
