This paper contains a series of reviews related to recently published books, which from broad perspectives depict the landscapes of contemporary literary studies and cover the spectrum of existentialism, critical humanism,present situation of theory, Queer Studies, and American literature under the multicultural context. In these representations, existentialist literature is described as an organic whole filled with the strong tension between morality and religion,theories in the crisis are held to be a kind of hysteria and a sort of ideology, the orbit from humanism to anti-humanism and transformation from the romantic to the critical are in their turns, subjectivity and cultural-political discourses are reconstructed through interdisciplinary settling on Queer Studies, and finally American literature under the context of multiculturalism is reconsidered while the stress is on the claim to the ethno-cultural identity.
