Ernst Robert Curtius and Studies of Medieval Latinality

本文首先指出了库尔提乌斯的名著《欧洲文学与拉丁中世纪》与同类名著的差别,然后从学术谱系、教学研究等方面分析了库氏与中世纪拉丁学术的关系。针对欧拉遇到的种种批评,作者评述后认为,库尔提乌斯的贡献仍然继续激发知识的新积累、新综合与新分析,库氏预想的人文主义传统的建构或重构终将到来。

The paper starts with indicating the differences between Curtius’ masterpiece European Literature and the Latin Middle Ages and other works on Medieval Latin studies. Then it analyzes how Curtius’ Medieval Latin Studies developed on the basis of his educational background,teaching and research experience. Having commented the criticisms towards the book,the author points out that Curtius’ contributions still inspire new accumulation, new synthesis and new analysis of knowledge, that the construction or re-construction of the humanistic tradition that Curtius expected will be realized.
