It has become a tendency to rewrite or subvert the classics in postmodern context.Adapted by directors and scriptwriters for movies in various styles,Shakespeare’s tragedies are not excluded. The Merchant of Venice, directed by Michael Redford, unfolding a tragedy before the audience, constructs a special space,'Ghetto',from elements such as scene, color, and figure.Explaining the inequality of the life and power relationship as well as the laws and order in the two spaces,Ghetto plays as a key factor in the process of themovie’s tragedilization.
