TO CONFUCIUS INSTITUTE- A poem by Prof. Yang Xueyi, Chairman of the University Council, BFSU

2012年5月,北京外国语大学举办庆祝孔子学院建设五周年系列活动。从开始参与孔子学院建设到率先成立孔子学院工作处,目前北外已与14个国家的高校和机构合作,承办了17所孔子学院(课堂)。过去的5年,是探索的5年,也是成长的5年。北外校务委员会主任杨学义有感于孔子学院的蓬勃发展和在中外文化交流中发挥的重要作用,感慨万千,题诗一首。

In May 2012, Beijing Foreign Studies University(BFSU) held a series of events to celebrate the 5th anniversary of its engagement in Confucius Institutes. With its participation of the establishment of Confucius Institutes and its establishment of the 1st CI office in Chinese institutions for higher education, BFSU has become the Chinese partner of 17 CIs, cooperating with universities, colleges and institutions from 14 countries.The past five years help us to explore and grow. Professor Yang Xueyi, Chairman of the University Council, BFSU, was deeply touched by the thriving Confucius Institute and its significance in cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries, and composed a poem as follows:
