nonlinear stability theorem analogous To arnold′s second stability theorem is established for a quasi-geostrophic flow with general boundary conditions in a periodic channel. The results establish Explicit upper bounds on the disturbance energy, the disturbance potential enstr Ophy, in terms of the initial disturbance fields. Nonlinear stability in the se Nse of liapunov is also established.=
