Some Historical Misunderstandings in the Studies of History of Chinese Science

中国科学史研究中比较常见的失误是对古人见解的误读。在对中国古代的时空观问题、古人的大地形状概念、月食解说、陨石成因等问题的研究上 ,都存在着比较典型的误读现象。辉格史学倾向对这种误读现象有一定的引发作用 。

The common mistakes in the studies of history of Chinese science are misunderstandings of the opinion of ancient people. For example, there are some typical misunderstandings in the studies of such questions as ancient people's concept of time and space, their view of the shape of earth, their theory of lunar eclipse and their explanation of what caused meteorite. The tendency of the whig interpretation of history in the history of science in China played some role in the appearance phenomena. The main reasons that caused such historical misunderstandings are that researchers were not having suitable knowledge of modern science and they neglected the related background knowledge of what they were studying on.
