The historical role of the Organization of African Unity

非洲统一组织在支持非洲民族解放运动、实现非洲大陆的全面解放 ,反对外来干涉、维护非洲国家的独立、统一与主权 ,调解非洲国家间的冲突与纠纷、促进非洲国家的团结与合作、扩大泛非主义思想影响 ,倡导非洲国家间经济合作、努力解决其经济发展问题等方面曾经取得了辉煌成就。但同时也在应对违宪行为、处理危机机制、推动国家经济发展、稳定国际秩序等方面存在明显不足 ,这也正是它为非洲联盟所取代的原因。

The Organization of African Unity(OAU) made brilliant achievements in its unremittingly supporting African national liberation movements and realizing the total liberation of the African Continent,resolutely opposing outside interference and safegarding the independence,unity and sovereignty of African countries,actively mediating conflicts and disputes among African countries and promoting unity and cooperation of African countries,extending the influence of Pan Africanism,advocating economic cooperation of African countries and making great efforts to solve problems in economic development.However,OAU had obvious problems in crisis handling mechanism against unconstitutional act,promoting economic development and stablizing international order,which were reasons for its being replaced by African League.
