四川联省自治是四川资产阶级联省自治人士发起的 ,但为四川地方军阀利用和操纵 ,最后被直系军阀扼杀 ,四川地方军阀借以自保的迷梦和四川资产阶级民主宪政的愿望均告落空。四川联省自治的结局说明 ,北洋军阀和地方军阀都是资产阶级民主宪政的障碍 ,在军阀纷争的格局下 ,资产阶级改良运动必然归于失败 ,在新民主主义革命成为时代主题的新阶段 。

The campaigns of Sichuan were started by Sichuan bourgeois, but they were controlled and taken advantage of by Sichuan local warlords, and was ultimately smothered by Zhi Warlords. And it was also inevitable that ended up in failure in the times when the new democratic revolution had become the subject.
