中国古代文明是人类古代文明的重要组成部分 ,其起源问题是整个的科学领域里的重大课题之一。中国古代文明不仅是独立起源的文明 ,而且是唯一的一直延续到今天的文明 ,应该作为一个独立的学科来研究。夏商周断代工程就是运用现代前沿的自然科学与社会科学相结合的方法 。

Chinese ancient culture was one important compositive part in human ancient culture and its origination is one of the great tasks in the whole science. Chinese ancient culture was not only the self originated one, but also the only one from ancient times to the present, which needs special study as an independent subject. The Division Project of Xia, Shang and Zhou Dynasties is a primary attempt to study the origination and development of Chinese ancient culture by applying the modern advanced combination of the natural science and social one.
