Passenger seat is important for the occupant protection in vehicle collision, and in crash standard tests on the passive safety characteristics of bus seat according to the AUSTRALIAN DESIGN RULE 68/00. The requirement of bus seats has to be improved greatly for the consideration of the passive safety characteristics of bus, because the anchorage of the seat belt is different from that in a car. This paper analyses the crash standard tests under AUSTRALIAN DESIGN RULE 68/00 and discusses bus seat design to improve the passive safety characteristics.
