Values: the Back of Culture——Some Reflections on the Essence and Necessity of Values

文化的不同是由于人们的价值观的不同所决定的。价值观是一种可以区分为价值源、价值标准、价值判断三个层次的逻辑结构体系。价值观的必要性是一种作为手段的必要性,而不是作为目的的必要性,所以我们要警惕价值观的负作用。但是,因为价值观有负作用而完全放弃价值观的建设、尤其是放弃公共价值观的建设是不明智的。

Various kinds of cultures are determined by various kinds of values, which are actually systems of logic structures that consist of three levels, including the source of value, the criteria of value, and the judgment of value. The necessary values is a kind of means, not a kind of purpose. So we should be on guard against the negativity of them. However, it is not sensible for us to fully abandon the construction of them, especially the construction of public values, just because they have negative affects. 
