This paper describes the stylistic features of English email message, with the conclusion that the English email message, as a genre, is mainly characteristic of its great conciseness and likeness to colloquial speech. It also analyses the situational contexts which, based on cyber- communication, have played a great role in the forming of the genre's stylistic features. The author holds that the rapid development of cyber-communication and the special stylistic features of the English e-mail message have made it necessary to teach students how to write e-mail messages in the teaching of college English writing.
