Intrusion Detection is an important problem in the research of the computer network security. It is, as a new dynamical security defense technic, the second line of defense after fire wall. This paper introduces the mode and methods of Intrusion Detection. The functions of Intrusion Detection System are pointed out, and classification of Intrusion Detection System is introduced. 
