Objective:To compare the clinical effect and outcome of defected teeth restored with crown by digital system and traditional impression. Methods:The cases of defected teeth which meet the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into two groups, which were undergone for restoration of porcelain-fused-to-metal crown(PFM)(group A)or ceramic crown(group B).Inregard to group A,two approaches(subgroup A-1 and A-2)were conducted by the CEREC Omnicam scanning and traditional silicone rubber impression, respectively. And the same procedure was performed in group B(subgroup B-1 and B-2).Intraoperative emotion tensity was evaluated and clinical efficacy such as marginal adaptation, periodontal index was also investigated statistically. Results:Statistical significance could not be found between two ways for the ceramic crown group on the clinical effect(P>0.05),while there was a statistical significance existed in the PFM crown group(P<0.05).Moreover,it demonstrated emotion tensity could be reduced remarkably by digital impression. Conclusion:Full crown restoration by digital system could achieve good clinical results compared with traditional impression, and rehabilitation based on the digital technique showed to have an advantage over traditional ones from the aspects of clinical experience with more comfort.
