With the development of world shipping industry,to promote ooperation and mutual assistance of China with developed countries as a developing country,and other English and non-English speaking countries in the maritime,for more accurate and effective implementation of the IMO Convention and to enhance maritime security and contribute to reduce marine pollution,English as a communication tool has played an invaluable role in communication.Under the contemplation of functional linguistics teleology,the maritime English as English for specific purposes,its translation has unique standards and policies.This article aims to use functional teleology to guide the maritime English translation as an information-based text,and analyzes the translation points and strategies of maritime English,proposes the standards and policies of maritime English translation as English for specific purposes.
