Charlotte Smith was a great poetess at the end of the 18th century.After sonnets declined for nearly a century,she readopted sonnets as the major poetic genre of her composition.In her Elegiac Sonnets,she made a lot of innovations to the rhythm,rhyme and theme of the sonnets,which made her sonnets a great success at that time.Because of her efforts,sonnets regained its popularity and thus she made a great contribution to the revival of the sonnets in the 1 9th century.
